Technique

Quarry tile of various sizes is the foundation of our tile projects. The technique of wax-resist is used to separate the many colors used in each design. The closed wax lines create a dam allowing thick glazes to puddle and mix within each area. True glass glazes, rather than underglazes, are primarily used and are blended within the wax boundaries. The various colors flow and blend together in the kiln creating exciting and often unexpected results. The hundreds of glazes at hand in our studio are applied with small squeeze bottles equipped with various sized tips. The process used has been perfected through research, experimentation, and many years of practice. Much time and effort goes into creating each unique piece.
